Our Founding

Founded in 2016, Mike Z Rentals was built by licensed real estate agents who saw an opportunity others overlooked: rentals. At the time, many Realtors avoided the rental market—viewing it as messy, time-consuming, and unrewarding. But our founders, Mike Zecchino and John Schemm, recognized a gap that could become a game-changing advantage. Their vision was simple: help Realtors look like rockstars by giving their clients a trusted, professional partner to handle rental listing management. 

By offering above-average referral fees (over $100,000 paid to date) and backing it with an ironclad referral agreement that guarantees referred clients are handed back to their agent on a silver platter when ready to buy or sell, Mike Z Rentals quickly became the partner agents could rely and trust. 

From that foundation, the company’s portfolio expanded to include vacation rentals, luxury rentals, seasonal rentals (30 days or longer), resort properties, and annual rentals, each managed with the same standard of care and communication that defines the Mike Z Rentals brand. 

Our Growth and Reach 

A key chapter of this growth came in August 2024, when Mike Z Rentals became the onsite rental management company for Park Shore Resort — one of Naples’ most established condo-hotel destinations. Starting with 17 units, the company has already expanded to over 45 resort rentals and counting, cementing its reputation as a trusted name in the industry. 

By 2025, Mike Z Rentals proudly manages over 170 short-term rental properties and a growing number of annual rentals. The company’s footprint now extends beyond the Florida Gulf Coast to Western Michigan, diversifying both offerings and owner opportunities as part of a long-term strategic growth plan. 

In the summer of 2025, Mike Z Rentals opened its new corporate headquarters in Bonita Springs, Florida, marking a major milestone in its expansion. With a growing team of more than 20 dedicated professionals, the company continues to elevate executive, operations, marketing, and guest services under one roof. 

Our Technology and Transparency 

The rental industry is the most tech-forward segment of real estate, and Mike Z Rentals leads from the front. At the center of operations is Guesty, the world’s premier property-management platform, enabling seamless integration across Airbnb, VRBO, Expedia, and dozens of other channels. 

Through Guesty and its affiliates, our team manages everything — from automated guest communication and digital door codes to cleaning schedules, inspections, and financial reporting. Homeowners enjoy full transparency via real-time dashboards that display bookings, revenue, and performance projections at a glance. 

We also leverage an AI platform for intuitive guest communications as well as to proactively sell unused nights, ensuring maximum income for our owners while maintaining a premium guest experience.
